At this time of year language agents and schools work extremely hard to get students placed on English courses and into accommodation. Availability of courses and accommodation can change on a daily basis. We usually find that General and Intensive English courses have spaces all through the summer as schools create new groups according to demand.

Accommodation, on the other hand, can prove to be a little more difficult during these peak times. Usually the student residences are first to fill up (especially single rooms) followed by rooms in student shared apartments. We tend to find that there is usually availability with host families during all the summer, but some hosts will be further out from the centre of town or further from school as availability is so limited.

Remember that it is always possible to book a course only if you are able to find your own accommodation or can stay with a friend. The best way to get the accommodation you are hoping for is to book as much in advance as possible. Or, if you are able to, try to travel after July and August in order to avoid the peak season. If you travel after the middle of September then you will also avoid the summer supplements that some schools impose.
