Canterbury
Quaint and pretty Canterbury sits proud on the River Stour in the county of Kent - known as The Garden of England. With its ancient city walls and stunning cathedral, this compact city is a joy to explore. After the murder of Archbishop Thomas a Becket, Canterbury Cathedral became a popular pilgrimage site for Christians all over Europe. This gave Chaucer the material for his famous 14th century collection of stories "The Canterbury Tales" and has lead to a legacy of literary culture. Also home to one of England’s oldest schools, you’ll feel very comfortable improving your English at our chosen school in Canterbury.
Why learn English in Canterbury?
The beautiful city of Canterbury is the perfect place to learn English. It is a small and compact city and is home to some of England’s most interesting cultural history. Home to the poet Chaucer, he made the city famous from his works “The Canterbury Tales”. Keen photographers will enjoy walking round Canterbury and photographing the sights and typically English scenes such as the Tudor architecture and beautiful flower-edged river Stour, not to mention Canterbury’s stunning cathedral.
The Canterbury English school that we work with is a small and friendly, family-run school offering students and homely atmosphere in which to study English and learn about English culture and heritage. The school is situated in a beautiful building only minutes from the centre of the city. They have been teaching English here in Canterbury for over 45 years.
Being only 90 minutes from London means that you don’t have to travel far from London to find yourself in a very typically English town – a perfect way to get the full immersion experience and practise your English.
