We are proud to offer an English language course combined with FA qualified football coaching in partnership with Manchester City Football Club, one of the UK’s most successful premiership teams. The course takes place every summer. Students have a choice of staying between 1 and 6 weeks with start dates on Mondays from 5th July 2010 to 13th August 2010.

We welcome a diverse range of nationalities on the course and both male and female football fans are welcome. The course caters for most abilities of football (unfortunately not suitable for complete beginners or for international standard young players). Minimum age is 15 years old.
The course is run at the state-of-the-art Platt Lane Complex; one of Manchester City FC’s training grounds and home of The Youth Academy for young Manchester City players. Facilities include excellent indoor and outdoor football pitches, a gym and training rooms.

English language tuition is offered by the teachers of Manchester Academy of English which is
accredited by The British Council. Lessons take place every morning from Monday to Friday.
Football coaching includes work on the key skills of football; dribbling, turning, shooting, passing and ball control as well as teamwork and confidence building. Students will play in 5-a-side and 11-a-side matches.

Accommodation is available to all students of 15 years old and over. Students stay at Manchester University’s Halls of residence on a full board basis. Standard bedrooms have a sink in the room and have shared bathroom facilities. All rooms have an option of internet access. Students of 18 years old and over can choose to stay in a self-catering university student flat of 4 bedrooms. Bedrooms are single with en-suite shower rooms and there is shared use of the student flat’s lounge and kitchen. A bedding pack (duvet cover; sheet; pillow case; towel) is included in the price. Kitchen and cooking utensils are not provided. Both accommodation types are situated on the main bus route into the city centre.

Excursion Programme: Full day excursion programme to, for example, Liverpool, Chester, York
and Blackpool and half day excursions to both the City of Manchester Stadium, Manchester City’s home ground, and Old Trafford, home of the world famous Manchester United.

The course price includes;
• 15 lessons of English language tuition per week in mixed nationality classes.
• 4 afternoons per week of FA qualified football coaching
• A full excursion programme
• Accommodation is either in Halls of Residence on a full board basis or student residence (lunches provided Monday to Friday as part of the course, self-catering at weekends)
